Dogs are man’s best friend. Your four-legged friend gives you unconditional love, loyalty, companionship and uncountable smiles. He wakes you up in morning, plays with you, and relaxes you when you come home tired and exhausted with his naughty acts. You never want your dog to leave you but the bitter reality is they have shorter life than man. The inevitable death of your pet can make you sad and depressed. Dogs usually have a life span of 10-13 years. If you want your dog to have long and health life you can make efforts towards by caring and loving them more. Here are few easy ways for taking care of them for their long life.


  1. BRUSHING REGULARLY: Oral hygiene is one aspect that is usually ignored. Like you brush daily, make a daily habit of brushing your pet teeth; otherwise it will cause plague and dental infections in mouth that are related to various health issues and sometimes organ failure like heart and kidney. They may also loose teeth and won’t be able to eat food. Next time, do remember to brush its teeth if you care for its health.
  2. STOP FEEDING THEM TOXIC FOOD: You must be wondering what toxic food you have been feeding them, sugar and sweets are one of them. Dogs love sweets and you cannot resist sharing your chocolates with them but you are harming their health. If you love someone you must be aware of food good for their health. Here is a list of food items that are dangerous for dogs.
  • Alcoholic beverages: It has same effect as on human. It may cause vomiting, diarrhea, breathing problems or even worse.
  • Onions and Garlic: onions both in raw and cooked form are dangerous. They reduce RBC’s and may cause anemia. If only taken in small quantity can be ok.
  • Coffee, Tea and Beverages: Keep your dog away from coffee, colas and tea. Their intake can cause restlessness and fast breathing.
  • Raw Meat and Fish: Serving them raw meat and fish can cause food poising. Fish and meat have parasites that may cause them sick at stomach and have early symptoms of vomiting and fever.
  • Grapes and Raisins: You may have given them grapes and they seem all right but remember they are toxic food for them. It effects dog kidneys and sometimes causes early death.


  1. MORE OF EXERCISE: Exercise has same effect on dogs as on your body. Daily exercise helps in maintaining their weight and makes body muscles stronger. Healthy and active dogs have more life to live. So keep your dog active by increasing evening walks and jogging session. Healthy dog makes a healthy you.
  2. REGULAR CHECKUP AND VACCINATIONS: Regular checkups can help in detecting diseases at an early stage which can be treated before it’s too late. Follow your veterinarian orders and try to give healthy and balanced diet. Proper vaccination is very important for your dog health. He is like a family member. He also needs your care and attention in return of his unconditional love and loyalty. Spare some time out of busy schedule to tail him to doctor once or twice a year.
  3. KEEP THEM RELAXED & HAPPY: Keep your dog happy and active. Love them, pamper them, play with them and train them. They are not mere toys they; they need your attention and love. Depressed and lazy dogs have shorter life. Involve them in your daily routine. Dogs also like music. Take them out on walk or jogging; it will help you also to be fit and fine. For you, they are part of your life but for them you are their whole world.
  4. FEED YOUR DOG A HEALTHY MEAL: You should buy them dog food that contains balance of vitamins, proteins and calcium. Or ask you vet regarding their diet depending on their breed and size. Do not pamper them much by treating them with food high in sugar content because that can make them overweight and other related problems.
