You try to keep it clean in every possible way but note that every clean and tidy looking home has many unwelcome germs. Even after following a healthy diet, cleanliness routine, you often complain about flu, skin allergies and respiratory problems, itchy skin etc .so where the problem lies? You follow the routine of cleaning and dusting but you still miss the important areas that are the main reasons for infections and diseases. Everyone knows that your toilet seat has millions of germs, so you try to keep it clean but you will be shocked to know that same number of germs harbor in your kitchen sink and sponges.
There are many such places which you never imagined can be sites for germ breeding and infection causing. In fact, “you’re more likely to get sick from a germ in your own house than from any other source,” says Kelly A. Reynolds, PhD, an environmental microbiologist at the University of Arizona. So you need to keep a close check at the dirtiest places of your home to keep diseases and infections at bay.
KITCHEN SINK, SPONGES AND RAGS:
Kitchen sink is place where you keep the unwashed dishes, pieces of food, vegetables, meat are drained, that become the breeding site for germs. In order to keep it clean, wash it twice a week with disinfectant or bleach powder. The sponges you use for cleaning dishes have 70% of germs due to residues of food particles. After using sponges you never bother to clean them. Particles of residue food start to rot and bacteria start to grow. So do not forget to clean it every time you wash dishes. Wash it in warm water or disinfect with sanitizer.
YOUR TECH-GADGETS AND MOBILE PHONES:
Yes your personal phones that you use to touch all day, may sometimes get you sick. All your gadgets like tablet, computer keyboard, television remote and mouse also carry germs. Do not be careless about cleaning them, as they may carry viruses that cause flu and infections.
The human mouth contains about 100 million microbes per milliliter of saliva. When you brush; food particles and bacteria stick to your toothbrush. The result is overgrowth of germs on your brush. In order to clean it, rinse it with warm water and hang it to air dry. It is important to cover your brush with protective cap. Other than your mouth germs bathroom germs allows attack it.
YOUR WET TOWEL:
Towel you use to wipe off your body after bath, carry all the germs of your body. If you don’t clean it properly then it may become breeding site for further growth. Never lay you wet towel in bathroom as damp towel has tendency to grow mold. Put in sun to dry as sunlight also kills all the germs on towel. And do not forget to wash your towel at least once a week.
YOU BATHROOM FLOOR AND BUCKET AND MUG:
You clean your toilet seat regularly, but do you bother to clean you bath tub, bucket or mug that you use for bathing. After bathing your body get rid of germs that it carry but many lingering bacteria or germs cling themselves to bathtub or bucket. So try to clean these once a week with detergent or disinfectant and try to keep them dry after use.
PILLOW AND BED MATTRESS:
Never imagined that it can cause serious infections, sneezing, itchy eyes and respiration problems. You change your bedroom bed sheets and think all is done. But no, bedroom is place where you spend most of your day and night and many people use it as living and dinning room. So it needs to be germ free. You mattress and pillow contains millions of bed bugs. So try cleaning them frequently.
